Ebony Smith CD1-MR1 Workshop 2025

Ebony Smith

Ebony Smith is a 5th year Immunology PhD candidate from the University of Pennsylvania. She is currently conducting her thesis work in Dr. Carl June's laboratory. Her thesis work focusses on investigating CAR MAITs as a therapeutic cellular immunotherapy for treating solid tumors. She is passionate about understanding how characteristics of MAIT cell biology can be harnessed to generate an allogeneic CAR product capable of overcoming current barriers to autologous CAR products. In addition to her scientific interests, she enjoys mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in immunology, helping to build and support future leading researchers in the broader scientific community. Upon completing her PhD, she plans to lead her own immunotherapy laboratory and continue mentoring scientists early in their careers. Her poster (#117) Mucosal Associated Invariant T cells: Potential Adoptive Cellular Immunotherapy will be on display September 11 from 12:30pm-2pm.
